Saint Michael in Hungarian 2026

Saint Michael the patron of paratroopers and parachutists

Following the Euroepan traditions the Fellowship Association of Hungarian Parachutists (FAHP) organised a military mass at Szolnok, which is the main garrison of military parachutists and special forces. Many formes paratroopers participated at it from several cities accross the country.

The mass was celebrated by military priest Lt. Dóbiás Zalán in the castle church.

Szolnok branch chief LtCol (Ret.) Zoltán Szabovik delivered a commemorative speech.

This year the mass was memorable since the Zoltan Vásárhelyi choir sung Kyrie, Glória, Ave Maria, Sanctus, Benedictus and Ágnus Dei. At the end we jointly sang the Parachutist March. The oldest member of the choir is a former parachutist and member of our association.

After the mass there was a friendly gathering in the garden of the Artists’colony where we shared stories from the past, while tasting local palinka made by one of our comrades. It was also an open air exhibition about the history of parachting in Hungary.
